I have a brand new Mac Pro with 2 250gig drives. One was factory installed and the other by myself. Problem is that they keep trying to go to sleep after being inactive for 5-10 mins. Checked in Energy Saver and that option is NOT selected. Where else can I check for this and disable it?

thanks

If your hard drive really doesn't follow the settings in System Preferences for putting the HD to sleep, there is a chance that there is a firmware setting on your drive or some other hardware issue. You might want to seach manufacturer's web site or search the web for info about that drive when used on a Mac.

Here is one comment about firmware issues and HD sleeping:

I'm not sure what would make the original HD sleep.

Run this command from Terminal (look in the Applications->Utilities folder for Terminal) and read all the output (especially the setting for disksleep).

pmset -g

then read about each option in the man page by running this command:

man pmset
