Any suggestions on a replacement sound card? I don't need anything super fancy.
I like my water with hops, malt, hops, yeast, and hops.

How about suggestions on what may have gone wrong and if it's fixable?

I was playing NWN and the sound cut. I thought it was just the game. I tried opening iTunes but there was no music. I unplugged my speakers but the internal speaker didn't work either (unless I don't have one).

Try:

A) play the game again. maybe just a bad file or borked install
B) opening sound pref pane & make sure your output is set to the internal speaker (yes Sawtooths had one as OEM equipment!)
C) If the internal works, then open sound prefs again and change it to the line out/externals......
D) If that doesnt work, trash you sound pref file and restart, then reset everything
E) The main mfgr for mac PCI consumer sound cards is M-Audio.........if you want/need to replace the internal set-up with a more flexible arrangement, or look on ebay for a direct internal replacement
Signatures are ugly. Bitchy women are ugly......YOU do the math :)

Have you run the Apple Hardware Test?
Also, open the System Profiler and check the audio section …
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
