I have a G4 MDD Single 1Ghz

I have installed 1gb ddr sdram pc2700u and a 512mb ram chip

making one and a half gigs in total with two free slots

but i read that i can only put in a max of 2gb?
If i load all 4 slots with 1GB chips will it work?

and is my current set up even working - status in the system profile says ok..

Yes, 2GB is the max. For my MDD, I have 4x512MB in it.

so that means the 1 gb chip works but anything over 2gb is useless..?

Negative. 512MB per slot is the max.

i guess this means i need to throw out the 1gb chip and get 3 more 512s to get the full 2gb ram.
