Oh the pain. I have emac Ipod 60gig, and a mac mini.

I can load movies no trouble with the emac. The mac mini was purchased for the job and is to be dedicated to the ipod to free up my emac.

Well I cannot load any movies using the mac mini. I have tried everything coceivable, re-installed software, Itunes all updates, downgraded the os to 10.3.9. Set it up identical to the emac no luck.

Re-installed 10.4. something, no luck. all new updates. Tried toon tools for Ipod, would not install---does not work on version of java.

Tried updating java to 1.5 no luck.

I have not nor will not update the Ipod, I have read that if you do so, you have to manually go back and set the firmware back so movies will play.

I can load the movies with the emac. Have resynced and lost all my movies

What is with this mac mini, and how can I fix it (ipod) to take movies from mac mini?

Thanks for all the insights

OK, when you say "load movies" do you mean play them on the computer or load them from that computer onto your iPod? Please be more specific.

If you transferred the movie files from your eMac onto your mini, did you authorize the mini to play your movie files in iTunes? You would have to connect it to the Internet and enter your password to authorize that computer to play the transferred files, otherwise they're locked up and would not load to an iPod for that reason.

I don't know if that answers your question, but I doubt there's a mini-specific problem. Though it sounds like you did some serious troubleshooting so maybe I'm underthinking it.

Again though, not sure what you mean when you say "load" movies.

I had 27 mp4 movies on the ipod. They were put there using my emac. Also there was some music that was put on the ipod using a windows machine.

I have a mac mini that was purchased for the sole purpose of loading movies and songs onto the ipod. IT does not load the movies

I have not tried to load music, as it is the movies that need to be there.

I have downloaded all the movies and have them on an external firewire hard drive.

I have resynced the mac mini, re-installed all the mac mini software. I have purchased tune tools, that will not load on either emac or mac mini and the box says it is compatible.

The error is no java 1.5

I have been to apple to update everything,

The emac still will load the movies onto the ipod. the exact same mp4 will not load to the ipod from the mac mini.

This mac mini has os 10.4.9 the emac has 10.3.9 the ipod is 1.0 and window formatted.

Only diff seems to be the processor on the mac mini. I installed os 10.3.9 to the mac mini with no luck in helping load movies to the ipod.

Itunes library will not take the movies (mac mini)

If you need more info, just ask what you need, but is there an inherent problem with the mac mini and ipods?

I have a 5 year extended warrantee, but just over a year on the purchase.

If iTunes is not accepting the files I would say the issue is with iTunes, so you might want to check out some of the support discussion forums on the Apple website dealing particularly with iTunes bugs.

I don't think there's any inherent problem with the Mac Mini in this regard, and many folks use them as their home media hubs. Sorry I can't be more help but I hope you find a solution. The good news is though that it probably has nothing to do with the hardware.

P.S.
Stay away from Tune Tools! Good luck!

Do the movies play in iTunes on your Mac Mini?

Have you authorized the Mac Mini with the ITMS?

Did you encode these movies yourself or are they from ITMS? What encoding did you use if you encoded them yourself?

Why do you have your iPod formatted to the Windows format?
