powermac g4 quicksilver--done some home work--very familiar with pc but not mac

to install 2nd hd do i have to set any jumpers like master /slave--i am familiar with what plug to plug into which hd

You shouldn't have to set anthing. Modern Macs use cable select.

On my Quicksilver i always made sure the jumpers were set for Master and Slave. Can't say if cable select would work on it as i never tried it.

Modern Macs do use cable select, but the QuickSilver is now six years old(!). It had the 128 meg hard drive limit on its ATA66 bus. So you do have to jump them out.
