i have 2gb of apple ram from whatever co. they use for the ram install, but at work my boss ordered 2gb of crucial 512MB PC2-5300U DDR2 667MHz. 240PIN. if i recall the stats match up for compatibility but i just dont know if can or would want to pop this ram in with what i got.

If the specs meet those required for your machine you're good to go. Crucial makes high quality RAM so you can't go wrong there.

It looks like your boss ordered the wrong RAM for a Mac Pro. You need DDR2 FB-DIMMs, not normal DDR2 modules, and the Mac Pro requires special oversized heatsinks.

DDR2 PC2-5300 • CL=5 • Fully Buffered • ECC • DDR2-667 • 1.8V • 64Meg x 72 from the Crucial Mac Pro page is what you need.
