I'm having lots of problems with my dual 1.8 G5.

I have a 2nd hard drive, 250gig, and i'm getting an error code -50 (paramErr - Error in user parameter list) when I try to modify a file within it or add one. The hard drive is formatted to Mac OS Extended (journaled). The only way to fix this is restart w/the OS cd, run disk utility from that, then 'repair disk'. Once i do this, it works for a short while then craps out again.

Here are the other problems. Permissions on my main HD always get messed up.

When I right click, 'Get Info' for any file i get the spinning pin wheel for about 5 minutes, then it works.

Also, say I'm in a finder window trying to open a file, like in photoshop i go to File > Open - then the finder window comes up, when I click the FILE i want to open I get the same 5 minutes of spinning pinwheel untill it allows me to proceed. When I try to upload photos to a website it does the same thing.

This is REALLY frustrating.

How can I fix this? Thanks!

Disconnect your second HDD and repair permissions on your main drive. See if disconnecting it fixes your problem with your main drive. If it does, your second drive is probably broken. Depending on the brand, it's probably still under warranty. Many HDDs have a 5-year warranty (or longer.)

the HD is a Western Digital with a lame 1 year warranty.

It also said not to change the default jumper setting (which was no jumper).

Disconnecting that drive did seem to fix the problems.
