Hello
Need some advice on getting a Mac mini (Late 2006)
Main uses:
-Programming (coding) with 3 different OSs, not 64 bit
-Size is important for me
-Can't live without Mac OS X
Are the specification differences worth the price difference of $160 USD?
Superdrive - Combo: At the moment I don't need to burn DVDs. In the future I would upgrade the drive, current normal prices of a Superdrive are as much as $100 USD with out shipping. A Slot-loading Superdrive will become cheap? easy to find? (Leopard on DVD-DL?). In the future I wouldn't need to bother looking for one.
CPU Speed: Tested both systems (1.6 vs. 1.8) and indeed the later is snappier displaying windows and overall reactions. I can live now with 1.6 and of course a CPU upgrade will be done in either system, maybe as soon as 2-3 months.
20 Gb HD: don't care about this difference but adds $10 USD to the difference value. Will be upgraded to 7200 RPM HD as soon as possible.
The other option is to wait 2 more nasty weeks to see if Apple is upgrading the Mac mini to a C2D. The person at the shop where I get this discounts (not in the USA) told me that they expect Mac minis (maybe upgraded) at the price of $950 USD, that would be a $400 USD difference (current 1.6 vs. theoretical new system).
IMPO if Apple upgrades the mini it would be with a very low end C2D, wouldn't be surprised if only a 1.6 GHz one, maybe a bit more memory too and superdrive and a bit bigger HD, that could make the $950 USD price much less unattractive.
Any comments or advise?

Best Regards and have nice weekend
