My G4 dual MD would not boot. 'on' light came on but then went off

after searching around I was advised to unplugg and push the PMU grey button

it now boots.

what was the cause of this and will I have to keep doing this?
are repairs/replacements needed for the power supply?

cheers and thanks

Modern computers have complex power systems which are managed by a miniature, dedicated power management chip. Sometimes this chip crashes or gets a bit confused. This can result in startup failures. If this happens to you often, you may have another faulty part causing the problem. Most of the time its a fairly unusual occurrence.
