I was wondering when I get it in august I'm hoping to somehow use my comcast internet in my parents room and make it become internet in my room. I have a wireless router but I'm having problems with that becuase everytime I hook my ps3 up to it it says on my computer someone is try to access my IP address so I can't figure out how to make that go away.(this never happened before when comcast came to change our modem but now it happens)
I'm thinking of getting a wired router if that would help becuase I'm having problems with my linksys wireless router. Hopefully you guys can tell me how to get internet from my parents computer using a wired or wireless router without having the IP problem. Or maybe it can be fixed with my old wireless router.

This should be in the networking forum.

But perhaps your wireless router is not set up for distributing IP addresses correctly. It should be distributing a range of addresses like from 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.200. Instead, it's only giving one address to the PS3 so it can't give out any more addresses. You'll need to check how you have DHCP set up on the router and make you choose to get an IP by DHCP on each computer or PS3.

If you have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about, I suggest you call Linksys and have them walk you through the setup of the router.

I have a 17" iMac that I use with a wireless linksys router at home, and that I've brought to my office and my parents' house, both of which have wi-fi connections. Each time it hopped onto the correct network without a problem. Maybe the issue only comes up when you're hard wiring something to the router? Good luck either way, but my hunch is the Mac will connect just fine.
