My Intel-based iMac (purchased in January) crashes on MySpace band pages. The page gets hung up loading what I think is the shockwave player (the media player that plays the band songs) then the browser MUST be quit - can't even navigate away from the page that's trying to load. Happens in Safari and Firefox. Have done the Rosetta checkbox, have downloaded and installed (repeatedly) the latest Flash and Shockwave players.

Any insights?

In the System Preferences, tell QuickTime *not* to play Flash and see if that helps.

thanks for the tip, seems the default is to NOT have quicktime "enable flash" - ie the check box remains unchecked. I'm still unable to view the music player on MySpace. Have downloaded and installed Flash 9.0.60.120...

Shockwave does not run on Intel Macs unless you have your web browser open in Rosetta.

Edit: sorry, I'm stating the obvious... Poster says he's running in Rosetta in his first post.

They plan on making a UB or Shockwave anytime soon?

I'm on a MacBook, and I have not seen a single MySpace page that WON'T blare out music at me - unasked, of course.

Your problem is NOT the Shockwave player (which is why I asked about the QuickTime check-box).

Do you have a problematic webpage you can link for us?

I do get to see/hear the single-song music player that regular MySpace users have on their pages, that plays fine. It's any BAND's page player that chokes my browser.

So here's a problematic page for me at home on the Intel-based iMac (but can see/hear the music player perfectly at work on a Power Mac G4): www.myspace.com/beastsofbourbon

today I had the same problem, I'm just using Safari in Rosseta, I hate this... I hope all of this it's solved when Leopard update arrive... why have an intel iMac when you can't use your default applications as is!

Using Firefox 2.0.0.12 and I can view the page without a problem on my MacBook. It takes a while to load, like all things MySpace, but it eventually does and all elements are present including a music player.
