I am running a Dual G4 800mhz with an NVIDIA GeForce2 MX with TwinView. My problem is this: I went from a 19" Viewsonic monitor to my 32" Vizio LCD. Everything was cool in the beginning. I selected the best resolution, tweaked a few things and was on my way. I didn't start having a problem unitl my Mac decided to recognize that I had a Vizio L32 HD connected about 20 hours after I had initially connected it. It then only gave me a few resolutions to select and all of them were the square variety, not widescreen. How the hell do I change it so I can have all the other resolutions I had listed before it recognized the monitor I actually had connected? And how the hell did it recognize out of nowhere what monitor I had connected? Thanks for the help as usual ladies and gents.

No idea what happened there, but you might try manually changing the display profile you are using in your display prefs.
Otherwise delete the system prefs pref file from your user library.
/users/you/library/preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
Then you could try resetting your PRAM or PMU.

How do I reset the PRAM or PMU? And will it effect any of my other System settings? How can I ensure that it will not change over to the Vizio settng again? I mean, it literally just switched over and recognized the Vizio. I wasn't even doing anything on the Mac. Thanks for the reply.

What I ended up doing is re-hooking the Mac up to my Viewsonic 1930wm 19" LCD. Then doing what you guys recommended above to clear out the Vizios settings. It then noticed it was connected to the smaller screen and gave me all of those resolution options again. I just re-hooked it back up to the Vizio and viola... but the question is how long will it take to recognize what it's hooked up to again and how do I override OsX 10.4 from recognizing what monitor it's hooked up to.

So you guys are telling me that there is no way to tell OSX 10.4 to use other resolution settings other than the ones it recommends for the display I have connected?

A program, a work around, anything.
