I have a 20" Intel C2D iMac and I can't get an external mic to work with it. I've tried two different external mics plugged into the line in port and I can't get anything out of either of them. It should be as simple as going to System Preferences, Sound, then selecting Line In under Input, correct? Is it a common problem for iMacs to have Line In issues?

Nevermind. I should have searched Apple's support forums first. My cheap mics aren't line level so they won't work. I need either a USB mic or a Griffin iMic...

Actually, these forums have a pretty good search function as well, and your question gets asked rather frequently here, too.

A cheap ($20) USB mic or headset might do the job as well, btw.
