i acquired a 700mhz iMac 15in. with 256mb of ram 80gb HD, but the damn thing wont BOOT. it gets to the blue screen right after the apple and just sits. i can move my cursor but nothing else happens. so far i have...

reset the p ram
ran and repaired with disk utility as well as DISK WARRIOR!
booted to the shell and did fsck -f repair

when i hold down apple option NV it gives me the background tasks while booting and i see its trying to do something with VPN. could that be causing this?

Maybe you should try reinstalling the system -- do a complete format and reinstallation.
