I'm a newbie so be kind. I hate parting with my dual 867MDD but want to squeeze a bit more out of it. Anyone out there heard of swapping out the dual 867mhz for one of the other 2 processors that were available like the dual 1.25 or dual 1.44 mhz? I know of a place to get either one but am not sure if either would work. I really don't want the Sonnet upgrade that is available.

You can use a higher speed processor from another MDD. But because of the difference in bus speed between those MDDs and yours, a processor like the Dual 1.42GHz, for example, would only work at 1.13GHz in your machine.

What do you have against one of the Sonnet or Giga Designs upgrades?

Oh,No Problem. I've actually used several different Sonnet upgrades over the years.I just have the change to pick up a 1.42ghz dual pulled from a working MDD for less than half the Sonnet price.
Thanks for the help. Have you heard of issues with the MDD not going to sleep?
