I have a Sony vega 40" TV (non HN) with S-Video in and RCA Video in. I am trying to connect an 80 GB Mini to the TV to use as an entertainment station. I have tried both the RCA and the S-Video connection with no luck.

I have plugged in an iPod dock with a video iPod via S-Video and got a picture. I have tried three different resolutions, and nothing seems to work.

Any ideas?

Clif, try setting the screen res to 1024 x 768 with the lowest frequency possible.

Does your TV not have a VGA input? this is what I use and I find it to be the best way.

When you plug the dongle into the mini, do you see TV resolutions in the Displays menu (if you've enabled the Displays menu in the Displays preferences)? I forget what it says, but it should say TV out or something there as soon as you plug in the dongle and resolutions of 640x480, 800x600, and 1024x768. If you do not see this, there could be something wrong with the dongle. The connection to the TV itself doesn't matter at this point. You just want to make sure that your computer detects the dongle.

I don't see anything when I plug the dongle in. Whenever it's plugged in, I'm blind to what the computer is doing. I'm starting to suspect the dongle.

It was a bad dongle. Once I had a good dongle, everything worked as planned.
