Any of the mac mini shaped drives, with a solid black vinyl on top from decalgirl or something.

That Ultra 3.5" looks like crap to be honest, the only thing that matches is the silver and black colour. I still think something like an Iomega Minimax drive or Newertech MiniStack enclosure if you have a drive already would be fine, with a bit of black vinyl over the top and cut to shape. Quick and dirty photoshop below.

I'm looking for a 5 1/4" enclosure for an optical drive-and the pickings are not terribly good. I found a Coolmax enclosure that comes in silver or black - it's USB 2.0 but only that. Anyone see anything better?

That Iomega Minimax looks pretty good over there. However, the Iomega brand sounds so 90's to me.

Depends on how many storage you want to have on your external drive (or matching the internal HDD size for a whole backup), OWC Mercury Elite Pro Aluminum 3.5-inch enclosure with your hard drive of choice should do that job. Otherwise, a LaCie d2-series hard drive is also a good pick.

If you prefer something on-the-go, I recently purchased a miniXpress 825 with a 160GB Seagate 7200prm notebook drive from transintl.com. Since it takes power from the FireWire bus, you don't have to carry a power brick.

Personally, I would recommend the miniStack as you not only get a case, but a USB and Firewire hub too. Given the paucity of FW400 ports on the new iMac, you might need them as well. I imagine NewerTech will eventually come out with a black topped one.
