What's the safest way to remove IMoive HD--Ilife 6, from my Imac G5, reinstall Imoive 5 and still keep all
the themes and third party transitions I bought...don't want to screw everything up, but IMoive 6 just ain't
cutting it, bugs, bugs and more bugs...and I hate Isight, thing is a pain..

If you're seeing tons of bugs in iMovie 6, there's something wrong.

Run the Software Update first.

iMovie 6 has been around for eighteen months now, and it runs very well (latest version is 6.0.3), and quite solidly.

Is your box exhibiting any other weird symptoms or instabilities?

He "edge.it" means you can use AppZapper - The uninstaller Apple forgot. to uninstall iDVD-HD.If you still have the old DVD install disk with iDVD 5 on it you can use Pacifist CharlesSoft - software you always wished someone would write to look at the disk for the particular file, app your looking for. Then you can select ether the themes & other stuff to add to iDVD 6, or install it in it's entirety!

I like iDVD HD I found it quiet responsive, intuitive & easy & I'm in no way a pro-guy.

Hi jpick, you state "bought new iMac" which comes with the new iLife08 installed & you don't like the new iMovie, you don't even have to remove it plus apple is give a free download of the old iMovie HD. I know you don't like that either but has I stated above if you use Pacifist you can select the app you want to install, I used it sometime ago to swap the new widgets out (calendar) for the old one. What I'm say is you don't have to remove the new iMove out... it may cause problems with the rest of iLife?
Installing the old iMovie5 wont cause any problems! Using Pacifist you can check Pacifist - Documentation it's easy to use & if you want to buy it after trial $20 only you can drag & drop but I always used the dialogue window.

I did buy a new IMAC G5, but it came with Imovie 6, (bought it around March...so you're telling me to just reinstall IMovie 5 and
it will work? Problem is new Imovie 6 with Imac5 will not recognize my camcorder, all it wants to do is use Isight and that sucks.

I've tried new cables, new camcorder, so I'm going back to Imovie 5 which dosen't have Isight..should work right?

Not necessarily.

Does your camcorder connect via USB or Firewire (iLink)?

If via USB - forget it. Won't work.
