I'm really interested to see if, like in the new iMac, the CPU is in a socket, and can be changed out for the newest revision coming later this year from Intel. If you spend another $300-$500 at that point, you can get the latest CPU in there.

Well the previous Mac mini used a socket and many people put higher end Core 2 Duo's in them, so I'm sure this one won't be any different.

If you're will to spend another $300-500, you might as well buy the new top end model and sell your old one = less fiddly work. That's what I did last December, when I sold my G4 1.42 1GB mini for $450 and bought a 1.83 Duo with 1GB RAM for $833 (floor model rebate at the Apple store. /That/ was worth the hassle of setting up a new system and selling the old one. Faster hard drive, front side bus, CPU, more USB ports, audio in, front row, Ghz ethernet, Bluetooth 2.0 etc. This time around, all you get is a new CPU.

So, rather than buying a new one, I just went to Circuit City, and bought two 1GB RAM modules. That was fiddly enough to install

I ordered mine the day of the announcement, but it hasn't shipped yet. I did a CTO with 2GB of RAM, 160GB HD and iWork installed. It is supposed to ship between the 14th and the 16th. The new keyboard (wired) is arriving tomorrow. I am anxiously awaiting the new Mac arrival. I'll post my impressions after it arrives.

PrimateLabs has posted their benchmarks comparing the mac Mini lineup. Overall, generally modest improvements over the previous version, but significant improvements for all other models.
