A few weeks ago I've reinstall My Mac Mini.

And a "Previous System" folder was created.

If I don't need the folder data, shell I remove It?

(It weights 11 GB)
Thanks.

Just make sure that none of your data or programs are missing. Then toss it out. You will be amazed at the sheer number of files!

Hi drorbn2000, if all is running well and you feel confident about it then it should be safe to delete the Previous System folder ... did you do an Archive & Install? If you have any problems deleting it just do a "Get Info" on the folder and then click on the Ownership and Permissions tab. You then change ownership to you, put in your password if/when asked, then delete the files.

Perhaps rename it for a month, then Trash.

Or Trash, but do not empty or a while.

Or copy to backup HDD.

That's what I do when I'm playing safe.

sometimes, support files for an adobe app, or the stuffit expander engine, for instance, wind up in the previous system folder.

keep it a few weeks, and, if everything works (your apps in particular), you can trash it.

Does that mean a "previous systems folder" works like the trash? What is in it, cannot be active, and if everything runs well, then nothing in that folder is of importance?

More like "pre-trash". Stuff that you are not sure you want to get rid of, so it just sits there. Nothing about it affects the operating system or applications other than taking up drive space. But someday, you will want to give it the heave!

Yeah, you can ditch it with glee, but if you're hesitant for whatever reason--and that reason can be unreasonable --keep it around for a set time, like a month, and then off it goes.

I use the time limit as a general rule for tossing stuff: i.e. if I haven't worn it in a year, off to Goodwill.

If you have a backup of your system, with or without the previous System folder, then trash it and empty it.
