I'm still pondering buying an iMac, and at the moment, I can get an iMac 20" 2.16 with an X1600 from Apple, refurbed, for £750.

But the thing is, if Apple decide to offer a matte screen option on the new iMac, I'll be able to get one with a better graphics card for £950.

I don't plan on playing anything as taxing as BioShock, but I'd like the ability to run Half Life 2 at a decent rate in high detail, via BootCamp. Would the 20" iMac 2.16 do this? And is it worth waiting around to see if Apple do offer a matte screen option?

I don't want a 24 inch iMac, though. I think the screen's way too big.

Then your choice is just that: A new HD 2600 PRO w/ 256 MB VRAM or a refurbished X1600 w/ 128 MB VRAM.

Personally, I'd go with the new iMac for games because the X1600 just won't cut it. Regarding the matte BTO option for the new iMac I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.
