I've got a 533MHz G4 DA Tower that's been my main computer since it was new. I recently acquired a 20" G5 iMac and would like to sell my old G4 and ADC Studio Display, putting whatever I get towards a Macbook. But uh - I don't really want to sell it. I keep going over in my head ways this machine could continue serving me. If it could actually fetch a decent figure I'd be less hesitant to sell, but such is not the case. The machine has been rock solid since new and very well taken care of.

Pioneer DVR-109, 640MB RAM, USB 2.0 PCI, 120 gig HD, Upgraded case fan, AirPort card (I'd probably pull this and sell separately).

What would YOU do? Home server? Sell on Craigslist? How much? I don't think I'd want to deal with eBhey and shipping.

I'd hang onto it.

I doubt you'll get more than $125 for it, maybe another $25-50 for the display.

I've never held onto a computer for that long. But if I had I don't think I could let it go. Especially when so much of its value has been lost.

You could always set it up somewhere else in your apartment/home as a second internet computer. For guests, friends... whoever. And leave it off most of the time so it isn't sucking up power.

Besides, the combination of that display and the computer is artistic looking enough that you could always pass it off as a decoration.

Seriously, I love it and am not happy that the combo (tower+display) can't get at least $250. I understand it, I just don't like it.

I just carried it into the other room to give it a nice cleaning and I'm feeling a little sentimental. Heck, I still miss the 333MHz iMac I sold a few years ago. So cute and a hard worker!

From my point of view, keep using it until it dies. It'll cost more time/effort to sell it when people will nag till your price is "free". Craigs list is probably worse than eBay as people will keep nagging you till you take their offer.
I had the same issue of what to do with my old G3 iMac(trayloader), let a few friends use it on a lend/lease agreement($5/yr) and it came back as they later bought a Mac. The iMac then sat on my desk unused from 2006-2007. I'll probably junk it when my 12" PB goes into the rubbish bin upon buying an Intel C2D MBP. I can't be bothered with eBay too

Personally I gave up with Craigs List, old gear like monitors, Palm PDAs, cellphones/blackberries, etc just get smashed with a hammer and tossed into the recycling bin at work. Yeah, harsh but I can't deal with flooded email box or voicemail with "cheap" people that have crazy demands(if you opt for a price cut, they'll demand you to ship the item and it goes downhill from there)
