I tried my standard optical connector and discovered my mini has some combo headphone/digital-audio jack. What kind of adapter do I need so I can connect it to my receiver, and from where?

Thanks

Try Radio Shack, or a Radio Shack-y type place. They are little black plastic adapters that look like a headphone plug with the square-ish optical jack molded on the end. They should be very inexpensive. I was lucky enough to get a pair included with an optical cable I bought a long time ago.

monoprice.com - they have the adapter as well as optical cables with the "mini-to-toslink" optical cable with the right jack at one end.
