Hi

I'm wondering if anyone else is having an issue with the optiarc dvdr in their Imac? From time to time i'm getting scratches on my media, it looks like its from the loading mechanism and not the head, as the scratchs run in straight lines from hub to rim, NOT arc shaped (as if in a spinning motion)

Should i be concerned, or is this a characteristic of a slot load drive (PC switcher, only ever had tray drives )?

The discs seem to play, more concerned for data discs than movies/music.

Thanks.

That shouldn't happen.

Just contact apple and tell them your problem.

After all, your mac is still under warranty.

Thanks for the feedback, I'd waited a while after posting this question before contacting apple, I was curious if it was a problem to anyone else. I didn't see many replies wherever i posted, so i did contact Apple, and they've arranged a replacement.

This is my first dealings with a company like Apple, i'm a switcher, always used BYO PC Clones.

I really like my Mac, i'm glad I switched, I hope my replacement is flawless!

Cheers

Don't be nervous about contacting apple.

Their customer service is much better than what you are used of from the PC world.
