I have a cracking noise when I rip a CD in the break between track 1 and track 2 - but ONLY BETWEEN TRACK 1 AND TRACK 2 ( and not every time).
It causes no problem to the burnt CD.
As I had the G5 2.1 ghz sent in to check for this, it would still kind of covered by the warranty (and if not, by my credit card extended warranty).
I just want to be sure to repair it, if it is something to repair, before I sell this computer. Don't want to see it go out with a problem.

A sharp little, noise. Doesn't show up on the CD, and only happens between track 1 and 2, and not all the time.
Had Apple check it. Couldn't find anything.
But I wanted to be sure everything's alright before I sell my computer.

Apple diagnosed a slow, regular clicking in my computer which was coming from the exact place where the fan is (which was running hot) as a bad hard drive, so I don't put too much stock in them.
I'd just make sure to note that there is a noise, but Apple said it was fine. Say its just a small noise, and blame can fall on Apple if it's an issue.

I remember well. I actually referred to the hard drive at that occasion.
In my case, it's just somthing like a static crackle or cackle from the speakers, nothing from the hardware, a bit like dropping the needle of an old record player on a record too hard. And as they exchanged pretty much everything...
It actually happens more after a fresh erase & install, and then becomes less and less.
God knows what it is, if there is a God for computers (if the old Greeks had had computers, there would be a computer god... still thinking for a good name, so this god wouldn't be offended)
I am possible over-checking things anyway, but I want to make sure the next person will enjoy my iMac as much as I did, and that the hardware is fine.

How about "Steve Jobs"?
And I think they will be just fine with the computer as long as it is just a sound. If it is just a sound from the speakers, I don't even think it warrants a mention. I thought it was a sound from the computer itself, like a click from the optical drive.
