Yesterday I burned two audio CDs into my Itunes library. Now my CD drive door won't stay closed. Every time I close, it pops back open almost immediately and I find this to be very bothersome. I have a Power Mac G4. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I started having the opposite problem with my original SuperDrive. It didn't want to open, and as soon as I opened it, it would try to shut again. I just chose to replace the drive.

Thanks for your help, Big Mac. Now my computer won't even recognize CDs. It looks like I will have to replace the drive. Any ideas how much that will cost?

There's something out of alignment with the drive door mechanism. This is where you really need 2 identical drives to compare them. If it's only a cdrw, then just replace it with a Pioneer DVDRW.

I forgot to ask - is replacing the drive something I can do (is it super easy?) or should I take it somewhere to get replaced? I'd rather do it myself because I'm afraid if I take it to the apple store they will charge me big bucks.

It's pretty easy, but you can take it to most any tech for around $30 if you don't want to do it yourself.
