Hey. I just bought a 2GB ram stick from 4allmemory.com

I currently have a 512MB stick in there giving me 1GB of ram.

When I got it in the mail today, I installed it in my computer and it just turned the fans on realy high. It didn't even go to the LOADING gray apple screen, it was just black with the sleep light on constant.

I have a iMac G5 with the iSight, 2.1gHz.

I re-installed my current 512MB ram stick and my computer was fine.

Did I just get a defective ram stick?

Did you buy PC2-4200 (533MHz) DDR2 SDRAM?

Did you seat it properly? It needs some force.

Did you run Apple Hardware Test (boot from the install DVD and hold 'd')? What did the RAM check say?

I bought this ram.

iMac G5 iSight (2.1GHz, 20-inch) computer memory upgrades from 4AllMemory.com.

I am pretty sure I seated it properly, I pushed it in as far as it can go.

I didn't run the apple hardware test because all the computer does it just turn the fans on really high. It doesn't really boot.

Do you think the ram is defective and I should call the company and tell them to send me another one?

Either the RAM is defective or you really didn't install it correctly. It is really quite hard to get it in place - check the iMac manual I think it has exact instructions.
