After about 5 minutes of inactivity, my screen dims. I have already unchecked the box in System Preferences that reads "Automatically reduce brightness of display before display sleep."
It's really annoying when I'm watching videos or something.

Here's something from Apple's website about this issue/Intel Macs.
A couple of 3rd Party Solutions:
Jiggler
Caffeine 1.0
There's also this, but I'm not sure if it's the best solution compared to the 3rd Party options:
The auto-dimming distraction can also be turned off from the terminal.app command line:
sudo pmset -a halfdim 0
It would be a snap to automate -- if not for the superuser-only restriction.

I haven't used the terminal option but I can hazard a guess that seeing that it's a super user thing, it would be off until the command was reversed.

Ok, so the terminal thing works, but is cancelled upon restart.

I found out there's an option in System Preferences after all:
Energy Saver > Options > Other Options > Automatically reduce the brightness of the display before display sleep

Yeah not sure what else to say. The setting worked for me on Mac OS X 10.4.10 Tiger and it works right now on 10.5 Leopard (GM). I turned it on and off several times to check.

It works for me too on a 24" white iMac. Hopefully Leopard will fix this in others.
