My wife has the white iMac (2.33 Ghz Core 2); I attempted to run Disk Warrior as she's been having warning messages about an impending hard drive failure. Found out that it's too damaged to be repaired; tried to quit the disk, and all I got was a spinning beach ball. I finally hard to turn the machine off, restart: it ended up with a blue screen. Nothing on, just a blue screen. Tried to eject the disk from the dvd/cd drive: no response. Is there a way to get this thing out? I just bought it!

You can try holding down the mouse button at startup, but a blue screen does not sound good.

if you booted the imac via an external drive or another mac in firewire target disk mode, I assume after log-in it would mount the disk warrior CD and you could choose to eject it.

Not sure though.

OK! got it out (the mouse hold-down while rebooting thing); the HD is toast, however ... I'm wondering if there's a way I can access the interior ... I have a spare HD here ...

FYI slot loading drives do have hidden holes to poke paperclips in, not a lot of people know that.
