iMac DVD loading problem

I recently purchased some of the new Verbatim high spec Archival Grade DVD-R discs.

However there is a serious problem using them in my 24” iMac (with built-in Matshita DVD-R UJ-85J player/burner) loading through the machine's side slot.

These discs seem to be both slightly thicker and have a slightly bigger diameter than all other discs. But perhaps most significant is that the edge of them, around the circumference, feels 'rough', almost serrated.

One or all of these factors create some difficulty loading them.
They do not load smoothly as pressure is required to push them in (although they appear to eject all right so far).

The serration can definitely be felt catching the extremes of the machine's disc slot and I worry this may cause permanent damage to my iMac!?

Have you had other reports on this?

CD and DVD physical dimensions are standards, and if Verbatim is not following those standards, they're going to have problems. Why don't you contact them and see what they say about the issue?
