Hi, I'm a new owner of an iMac (pc-mac convert here) and am trying to set up my Klipsch ProMedia 2.1. My problem is, iMac does not recognize it. When I check "Sounds" in Systems Preference under "output", it is only showing the default internal built in speaker and nothing else. I tried disconnecting and connecting back again all the lines, restarted iMac but wont still recognize it. I know I have connected the plug to the right port at the back of iMac's monitor (not the headphone) so Im sure everything is connected in the right location.

I did not have issue when I was using this external speaker with my PC, it detects it automatically just fine.

I read that people have successfully setup their klipsch no problem, I was wondering if there is something Im missing here. Do I need a driver to install?

Any input would be appreciated

Not the headphone, you say? Well, let's look at the iMac specs.

Hmm, unless you've got it hooked to the combined headphone/digital out, I'd hazard a guess that you've got it hooked to the line-in..?

what do you mean when you say, "i know i have connected the plug to the right port at the back of iMac's monitor (not the headphone)." from what i gather all/most 2.1 systems need to run through the headphone port on the imac, you might be plugging it in to the audio-in. if not then either your speakers are broken/not being recognized or your imac is screwed up.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)

Just a heads up, the Audio Out port is almost always called the headphone port nowadays.
