Just wondering if I buy the imac this friday (26th), will leopard be pre-installed?
or do I yet have to wait for a bit longer?

It will most likely not be pre-installed,but you will get a disc of Leopard so that you can install it yourself. And don't worry, installing it yourself is the exact same thing as the factory install. They don't do anything special.

Do you get the latest tiger install discs along with the Leopard discs?

I think they might swap them out, but possibly.

EDIT: Scratch that. Yes you do, because there is iLife and other apps on there that won't be on your Leopard disc.

The 'included software' section (bottom right of the page of the iMac's Apple Store page) still lists 10.4 as the OS.

Because it is. On Oct. 26, when leopard is included, that will change.

On the Store web page, you can have a "chat" with an Apple rep to get assistance with questions. On Saturday, I asked a similar questions and "Grace" responded that they do not know the date when shipped iMacs will have Leopard preinstalled but that orders on 10/26 and thereafter will have the 10.5 discs enclosed. "Grace" also offered that with the Apple "Up to date" program you can order today and be eligible for a copy of Leopard at the reduced rate of $9.95.
24" iMac 2.8GHz C2D, 10.6.5; 2.0Ghz MacBook CD; 15" FP iMac 0.8GHz G4, iPhone 3G; 1G Nano 4GB; 3G iPod 20GB.
