hi there i recently bought a imac core duo 2..

and i just realised i lost out, heres my problem..

i bought my mac and decide to upgrade it from 1gb to 2 gb of ram which cost me £90 uk.

i though they would just add a 1gb memory stick into the memory slot (same as my last G5 imac).

but i just found out that they actually take out 2x 512 sticks and upgrade with 2x 1gb sticks..

my problem is that after searchin around for some memory for my macbook ive realised that the memory they took out would have done nicely for the macbook.

now ive got to go out and buy extra memory for the macbook, this way its has cost me £90 for the extra in the imac and £45 for the macbook to take them both to 2gb..

if i had know better i would of take the mac for apple with the standard 1gb replaced it with 2gb of third party memory and used the original for my macbook.

have i a right to the original memory from Apple ?? i think im gonna ring them tomorrow..

No, you don't have a right to the memory because you got exactly what you ordered. The cardinal rule with Apple is to always purchase the lowest memory configuration and install your own memory after-market. Besides the situation you have, Apple charges way too much for installing extra memory. I'm sure this would be fine for people who are afraid to even try to install memory, but it's so easy with Apple's machines, there's really no reason not to do it yourself.

Buying RAM from Apple is never a good idea.
