My refurbished Mac Mini arrived today and to my surprise it came with 1GB of RAM instead of the 512MB advertised in the Apple Store. Has anyone else been pleasantly surprised by Apple? I assume they did this because 256MB RAM chips aren't in great supply these days.

Not uncommon with refurbs. They advertise the base model on the refurb page, but then they just ship out whatever gets returned.

Yep. Happens a lot. People have gotten faster CPUs, better GPUs, more RAM, more HDD, etc. Enjoy it.

I've read rumors that they are going to be cut from the product lineup.

I bought a powerbook 12" from Apple that came with a 100 GB HD instead of the 80 Gigs spec'd. Needless to say, I was extremely pleased.

We end up ordering a lot of refurbished Mac minis and we get the upgraded surprises quite often. It's always nice to see it.
