I have a Mac Mini with 1GB of RAM (2x512MB). If I upgrade one of the 512MB chips to 1GB to bring the Mini to 1.5GB will there be any sort of performance hit? If so, how much? I've heard the two memory chips need to be the same size for optimal performance.
This has been discussed over and over. The performance gain you will get from the extra 512 MB will far outweigh any hit you might get from mismatched RAM.

I agree with both previous posters. 1.5 GB unmatched is certainly better than 1 GB matched. But also, once you've gone through the trouble of getting in there, just go for it and install 2 x 1GB.
I just want to add to the above comments. 1.5GB is fine but RAM is so cheap you should just get 2GB. It will probably cost you $60 for 2x1GB instead of about $30 for 1x1GB.
