I'm wondering if its worh the upgrade from my current 1.66 Dual Intel mini to the new 2.0 Dual mini.

My current (not so old) mini is starting to lag under iTunes when it eats 1GB of RAM, and iPhoto is not so quick either anymore. My biggest problem with the mini (coming from a PowerMac) was the lack of seperate video RAM (for things like Civ), is it any better on a new mini?

I know I'll get 10.5, which is a plus, but should I be wary of new minis in January? Also, can I sell my current mini for $400-500? Its the superdrive moel with 2gb RAM.

Thanks,

Uisce

The mini's are about to be killed off (or so I've heard) so if you really want to upgrade, do it now.

BTW, your sig is too big.
Signature depreciated.

If the Minis are about to be killed off, the rumor sites only got it right because they have been predicting it for a year now.

I'd say if you can sell your current mini for at least $450, go for a new one, even if there are killed off, it doesn't matter, support will still continue just as if it wasn't killed off. The only difference if it isn't killed off would be that there would be newer, better minis than yours.

The new mini's aren't much better... same 2 year old GPU, 1GB higher RAM ceiling (3GB).

How about a refurb iMac? They go as low as $850.

That's my biggest issue - two year old design and whispers of some new replacement....

I looked at iMacs, but I have a nice monitor already, and I'm not sure I need dual monitors. Maybe I'll just wait until Jan and see what Apple releases, I don't need a new Mac by any means.
