Ladies and gentlemen,

Speculation about the base price of the top-end 8-core MP has been rampant. This thread is the official place to guess for glory. Closest NNer wins praise and esteem from all of us, and a future as a highly paid actuary. Without BTO options or anything else, just the base machine, the standard RAM, HD, vid card... no display, no Applecare... naked...

My guess: $4999.

I don't care what the base price is. I just want the new Mac Pro to come out before my ADC discount expires.

You could still play along and take a guess.

Depends if Apple goes with the new X5482 or if they settle for the cheaper and lower power X5472. If they go for the X5482 I'd say $4299. If not it'll be $3999.

I have to believe its the 3.2 for their flagship, or even a secret special edition 3.3 version exclusive to Apple. The hardcore users who will buy a maxed octo will pay for the best. With the 3.2 processors being so expensive, can they really make enough at $4299? Let's hope!
