I have a 733 and may need to replace the logic board. Since the form factor is the same and as I understood it even the CPU, can I replace the logic board with a QuickSilver or MDD logic board, or do I need to just keep it to th digital audio? I have a dual 1.8 G4 Sonnet CPU on the way, so I'd rather not scrap the machine.

The MDD is a different machine on every level possible. It shares pretty much zero characteristics with any previous G4 line. Aside from the fact that it uses a G4 as its CPU, it's as alien to rest of the Power Mac G4 family as the Power Mac G5s are.

The Digital Audio and QuickSilver were nearly identical aside from external appearances. But there's one little hitch you'll snag upon trying to put a QS board into your DA; The QS has an additional 4-pin power connection coming from the PSU, which your machine's PSU doesn't have.

So, in short, putting in a QS board means putting in a QS PSU as well.

Great info, thanks! I don't think there's really any change from the Digital Audio 733 board and others in the QS line, so I might as well get the Digital Audio version.
