Apple store better at repairing computers than certified providers, or vice versa?

Just wanted to gauge your experiences with repair facilities.
I am currently using an apple certified repair store for my warranty repair.
Never tried an apple store for a repair.
When it comes to computer repair, a person with imagination and creativity works much better than a repair book performer.
What's your experiences with repair facilities for the mac?

I think that it really depends. Obviously, given a choice between CompUSA and Apple, I'd go Apple, but if there is a smaller, individually run Apple Repair place near you, they might be better just because of their proximity and person to person interaction. On the other hand, depending on the repair places near you, Apple might have a better warranty policy so you're covered if they screw something up.

it's actually MacMall, but I have the impression that the technicians are serious about their work.
No, I would never even think of going to CompUSA or, worse, BestBuy (just read a story on the web about employees copying files from customer's computers).

I'd say it completely depends upon the person with the screwdriver in his hand.
Apart from that, though, there are differences between different stores in how gracefully "issues" (such as damage incurred during repair, whether something is covered under warranty, etc.) are resolved.
Generally, if warranty coverage of a certain defect is doubtable, the only way to go about it is to get Apple to approve it anyway, since they're the ones supplying the parts either under warranty or for regular parts price, depending.
So if you're unclear as to warranty status of whatever it is, it's possibly a good idea to take it directly to an Apple Store - though even then, warranty applicability is AFAIK within the discretion of the technician.
