Are the two spare SATA ports on the motherboard still there a la the "old" Mac Pros?
Lots of Macs in the house...

Can't say for sure, but they pretty much have to be. Both optical bays have PATA cables in all the pictures I've seen and you'd have to have SATA connections for those bays as well on the motherboard as many of the newer optical drives are SATA only.
