So I understand that the RAM in the new Mac Pros must be installed in pairs and that " Apple recommends the use of 4 or more modules to take advantage of this 256-Bit Wide memory architecture".

My question is, is there any performance loss by using 2 1GB chips and 2 2GB chips? Would it be better to have them all the same size or does this not matter as long as they are matched pairs?

2x1+2x2 is just as good as 4x1 or 4x2 for memory performance.

So I found this image which seems to imply that for 10GB I would need to move the factory 2 1GB chips to the other slots on riser A? Is this true?
