hi all, i just noticed a strange issue with my imac screen. i have a late '07 24" imac core 2 extreme version. the issue appears to be a strange blemish underneath the glass in the front of the display. i can only notice it if the screen is completely black (i.e. off or with a black/dark image on the screen) and the sun is shining on the screen. the best description i can come up with is that if you took two clear pieces of plastic and adhered them together, you would commonly get bubbles or strange distortion from the adhesive that would prevent them from being perfectly transparent. essentially, this is what it looks like on my screen. the blemishes are somewhat circular (sort of oblong), in the mid-upper right area of the screen, there are two of them and they are about 4-5" in diameter each.

has anyone seen this? what is strange is that it is NOT on the front of the glass, it is behind it. so it's obviously not something i can clean.

incidentally, i only clean my screen with the included microfiber cloth that came with the imac.

would this be a warranty issue?

thanks for any help/input!

it would be really, really tough to show in a picture. like i said, you can only really see if it if the sun is shining on the screen and the background is black. even then, it is a weird blemish that a camera would have a hard time picking up. i am going to go into an apple store today to see what they think. i was hoping someone has heard/seen this at some point though so i would be able to tell them that i am not the only one. i find that when going to the apple store with an anomaly they generally start shooting you down.

I think taking the computer to the Apple Store is your best bet. From all the reports I've seen of "how horrible" the new iMac's display is in the stores, that's probably your best bet to have it seen.
