I'm just chugging along with my G4 MDD 1ghz with a stock 64MB video card and 768MB ram. I've seen many posts and I'm not ready to choose between an Imac or MacPro (for dollars and sense). I just need a little more performance and leaning towards a 9800 mac pro video card and another gig of ram from OWC. Could this be a fair choice to get a better performance for the buck? Or what? My thanks in advance.

IMO G4 towers generally deserve no additional investment, except maybe RAM (max on that box I think is 3x512 MB). However if you are happy with it and a new graphics card will help whatever it is you do with it, go for it.

I believe the G4 MDDs had a max of 2 GB (4x512). Certainly I had a 1.25 model with 2 GB in it at one point.

Yes, it does have a 2 gb capacity. I'm also wondering if the 9800 pro mac card with 128mb will still outperform the 9600 card with 256 mb? Isn't the 9800 card technologically superior?
