Hi.

Got a G5 2.5 dual. I know, I know, we're in Intel now but this is what I have.

I've got about 1.2 terabytes of disc spinning, 3.5 gigs of ram.

I'd like to improve the video card. It's a Radeon 9600 XT. I've been running Xplane 9 which is quite
visually intensive.

What are my options? I never see X800XT Mac editions for anything less than "stupid expensive".
The X850XT cards were only sold in Macs and never sold outside of that platform as OEM cards.

Are there other options for an 8X AGP Mac G5 card that will work for me?

Ideas? Someone once had a site that was flashing higher end PC AGP cards and making them
Mac compatible but all I remember is it had some website that dealt with purebred dog breeding,
can't remember the url.

9800Pro or X800XT are it on the retail side. 6800 Ultra/GT were available as a BTO option in addition to the X850XT.

Check out eBay for one of these cards. But, yeah, you may pay a bit for it given (supply vs. demand).

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look around.

In the meantime I've been using ATIcellerator II to boost the card a bit. The stock default settings are actually
underclocked on the 9600XT - the actual card as sold for PC ran at 500 mhz with the memory clock fairly high
as well but as usual Apple underclocks things so they don't have to put a fan on it on the name of quietness.

Same deal with the superdrive in that machine - it's a dual layer higher speed drive but they make it behave
as a single layer slower drive as at full speed it's apparently noisier.
