I have a new Mac Pro (Dual quadcore 2.8), and sometimes I will put the machine to sleep and it works as it should when I wake it up. However, a couple of times so far when I go to wake it up it restarts. The machine is asleep (slow glowing light), and it appears like it is waking up, but then I hear the chime and it is rebooting. Any thoughts? The only addition to the machine is a 300 GB HD, which came courtesy of my G5.

Is the "put the hard disks to sleep when possible" option checked in energy saver pref panel? if so, uncheck, maybe skipping the spinning down/spinning up routine of the HD will help.

My previous Rev Mac Pro does this sometimes, and sometimes simply freezes when I try to wake it from sleep. I've tried the hard-disk sleep options, and I've tried removing my extra ram, as well as my extra video card. Reinstalling the OS, and all the other tricks do nothing either.

I find that I just leave it off more often than not instead. It seems unfortunate, but many Mac Pro owners I've talked to have a similar issue with the sleep function either not working or causing more problems.
