Have a Power Mac G5 (Dual 2.0GHz DDR2) and had some RAM in it that was PC2-4200 (which showed correctly in the System Profiler)

I took these out and added new faster DD2-5300 RAM, booted, works fine. Went to the System Profiler and it lists the RAM as PC2-3200U-288.

Any ideas why?

After some research it looks like the G5 model supports speeds up to 4200:
Power Mac G5: Memory Specifications and Requirements

However the new RAM checks out fine (ran a bunch of memory tests)..just wondering if the 5300 is confusing the Profiler..if it is running at only 4200 (likely) or that is only running at 3200 (hope not).

Any ideas??

Thanks

Download some ram performance testers (like Geekbench) and see if there is a performance difference.
