Have a relatively new 20" Alumminum iMac. Has the stock 1GB of ram.
Someone has offered me the 1GB stick from their recently purchased
24" Aluminum iMac. That of course would get me to 2GB in my iMac.
Do both iMacs ship with identical 1GB modules?

Yes. All Intel Macs except for the Mac Pro/Xserve use the same memory.
