Hello and help-

I upgraded my G3 with an airport card last week.
Spured on by that success (having never opened up a computer previously) , I bought more RAM and went to install that today. I opened the back and there's this small silver square object loose in the works, just below the memory slot area to the right.. It has15 prongs approx. 1/16" wide and 1/2 " long, one of the corner prongs has a red dot on the end (an adhesive that had held it in place perhaps ?) On the prong-less side is a mesh patch 3/8" x 3/8". The whole thing seems to be made out of metal . I can't really see into the machine very well to see where it might have come from.
I started it back up and it seems to work fine without this thing, but I'm waiting for it to blow-up any second now. Any ideas from anyone who is more computer savvy than I (that would be just about anyone) ??

Thanks !

It's a Mac invader. Your iMac was being assimilated. Picture?

Sounds like one of the heatsinks. The GPU heatsink was adhesive. See the guide here to find it:
