It seems I've been having some USB issues on my Mac Pro for some reason (no problems using other machines), so I thought it might be sensible to get a USB card so I had more channels to work with. I see that Sonnet has one, but it's around $50, when you can get classic USB 2 PCI cards for the price of shipping. Does anyone know of other compatible cards? Thanks!

Why not warranty repair? When I buy a professional Mac I expect everything to work!

I agree with that, but it seems to me that Apple will just say it's within spec. Basically, if I disconnect the devices and connect them to more direct ports, it works fine. That said, it worked with just the two ports on my MBP just fine. ...not to mention that Apple has a terrible process for fixing a Mac when parts just need to be replaced. We bought a new video card when one was defective because the local repair center says that they have to hold onto the machine even while you wait for the part to arrive. What professional can go days without the machine working?

That's the most unprofessional thing I have ever heard of. My local authorized retailers let me order warranty replacement parts (even motherboards) sight unseen.
