Can you install the 8800 GT graphics card upgrade in these older Mac Pro models? I've currently got an ATI 1900 XT card installed, and I've already had to replace it once due to the card overheating and Apple refuses to actually fix the underlying issue with this particular card. I was hoping I could swap it out with the new 8800 without having to replace my Mac Pro. Is this possible? Has anyone done it?

Thanks.

Currently, no. NVidia chose to make the cards with a ROM suitable only for EFI64 based systems, and the first generation Mac Pro machines use an EFI32 firmware. There is an upgrade kit in the works though, and once that comes out, you should be fine to upgrade.
